Teleconverter on Tamron 90mm macro

Will this work to give more working distance or would I be better off getting an extension tube for my Nikon 55-200 and 70-300? Hope to get a 180-200 mm macro in future.

Yeah, it would give you longer working distance. I think I would probably go for a Kenko or Kenko PRO converter, due to the way the rear element on the Tamron 90 is located; you will NEED to have a teleconverter that has a somewhat recessed front element, so the Nikon TC units are out of consideration. A 1.4x converter is what I would suggest. I am gonna' say I think the Tamron 90 + the Kenko PRO converter will be a handier, better macro setup than either zoom lens + extension tube setup. Nothing scientific behind that statement really, just a gut feeling.
