ok, ok, my turn, my turn.

1) I was the first baby ever to be born with no hip ball & sockets. They had to make them for me.
2) I once put a sliver of wood through my finger. I pulled it out and stitched my self up
3) I was hit by a car, broke their windshield, and walked away.
4) I have never broken a bone in my body, even though I do a lot of dumb stuff.

Oh, so one thing people may not know about me (that also kind of figures into the pets thread) is that I used to have a shark in my living room. Yes, it was alive. Yes it was real.

There was a pet store going out of business, and they had a hatchling brown nurse shark that they needed to get rid of. They were about to sell it to someone with a 40 gallon tank. The tank was about 8" longer than the shark. Not cool. So I bought it out from under them and put her in my 125 gallon for awhile. She was gorgeous and tame and a great pet. I'd put my hand down on the bottom of the tank and she'd swim over and settle down on my hand and let me scritch her belly. She'd also let me pick her up out of the water for a few seconds, then would calmly swim away when I put her back.

About the only time she'd get really aggressive is when it was feeding time. When I got her, she was just shy of 18" long. 6 months later, she was past 24" and eating ten or eleven 4" prawn shrimp a day. I've got a scar on my arm where she nicked me once during a feeding. She wasn't mean or anything, she'd just get into her own little feeding frenzy. :-D By that time she was getting too big to stay in my tank, so I took her to some friends' that have a coral import business. They put her into a 1500 gallon saltwater pool to put on a couple more feet and a few more pounds, then she was going to go to a public aquarium.

that is way cool, there is a place in Long beach "aquarium of the pacific" and if you are a certified diver you can volunteer for a lot of their programs or just clean the tanks...and they have this awesome shark tank...I wanted to sign up for that but I heard you have to have special cert for all of that

That's a great story, John. Awesome pet owner and a shark-rescuer all in one!! Disgusting, that the store would have sold her under such inhumane conditions. I'm so glad you saved the day. :cheer:

Kind of explains why the store was going out of business, though.
