Nice I would like to sugest to correct the distortion from your wide angle lense and make all the trees standing straight though.

I like the feeling I get from the first pic as if any moment a barage of barbarians might appear swords at the ready. Silence before the storm.

I'm not an expert and obviously i don't know what your direct aim was for the pic but i think:

Lack of colours in both pics (Which i personally don't like because i'm a colour junkie) however it gives a bit of a dark and gloomy effect which i would guess you are looking for.

I would suggest maybe you look at approaching the forest which different angles and heights, forests are great for that.

Great potential for high contrast B&W, or bluetone possibly with burning around edges etc

All in all i like! Please critique my pan picture in return!

I like them both quite a bit. And I'm not bothered by the angles of the trees.
