testing out the nifty fifty Pentax

I forgotten how good they are 50mm 1.8. After birding all the time with 4 pounds of glass,it was like going from a concrete block to a pebble. So sharp with great color but a little noise from the screw drive and I have to watch my support hand placement, I keep touching the AF with fingers.

'I know exactly what you mean, the 70-200 mm 2.8 is on my camera most of the time, so when I do get a chance to throw that 50 1.8 on there, it almost feels like I'm net even carrying the camera anymore. Looks like the Pentax version is every bit as sharp and crisp as the Nikon equivalent. They truly are remarkable lenses.

I know it's a different lens, but I adore my Pentax 50mm 1.7. It doesn't surprise me they have carried that quality into their modern "nifty fifties" for digital.
