Testing Out the Tamron 28-75.. Very Impressed - Model Shoot

Very nice indeed. It's hard to think about the lens when your lighting is so great.

I've been thinking about the Tamron 28-70 or the Sigma 24-70mm as an alternative to the Canon 24-70mm. I really think that I might miss the widest 4mm...but maybe not. I have the Tamron 17-50mm F2.8, and I'd assume that this lens offers similar quality & performance.

Scratch that...I see that it's not compatible with full frame.

That's what I thought....but I swear that B&H had their descriptions messed up yesterday. I looked it up and it had the same description as a Di II Tamron lens, which is their designation for their APS-C only lenses. :scratch:

Of course, everything is as it should be when I look now.

I'm not crazy....all of you are crazy....and stop trying to steal my magic beans! :greenpbl:

How do you find the edge sharpness on this lens?

Most reviews/complaints mention that the edges are overly soft (when used on full frame)...and that to get even reasonable sharpness in the corners/edges, you have to stop down to F4 or F5.6.

Love this lens, like I said, I find it very sharp all over and to me the OOF areas are pleasant. I use it both on DX and on film (it definitely is FF, but I think they actually do call it DiII, which is weird)

well my comment to the edges.. If I am shooting at less than f4, I am generally blurring the edges anyway so I dont really notice. If I was doing landscape or like the images I linked in the beginning of this post and wanting a DOF deep enough to cover then entire frame, im already shooting about f4 anyhow. My review, lens sharpness works great in all the aspects (I) use them for. Now to test out the Takumar 105 2.8 and 50mm 1.4 i picked up at the pawn shop for $20 - Pentax mount on 5DMKII
