Thought it would be fun to test out the 8FPS of the D300s to capture a smile in what turned out to be a poorly put together GIF. C&C if youd like. Enjoy!

Even though it sounds interesting, i am afraid we are losing the life of still photography; A real still is moving image, not in the image but in the mind of the viewer; do this image as good if we see her smiling face stilled? Mark sir, i am not crtiticizing you, but i think there is nothing like a stilled photography; i really want to know how others think about this rather new idea, creeping into still photography.

I understand your concern. I thought the same thing when I see time lapses and HD video..but they turn out amazingly sometimes. When you can construct a basic featurette out of your photos ahd still have them look nice, I think it is an accomplishment. Here is a still for you to decide:

Lol you can tell I have kids when you reference things to movies or kids tv shows. In harry potter the pictures all move. Haven't you ever seen one? Wall pictures, newspapers, snapshots, photographs all are animated. Sorry. I have no existence sometimes apart from my kids. Makes me have brain farts. :lmao:

Cool.. I think your PPs are a little different on each frame. I see different tones a bit. I assume all shots have same camera settings.

I batch processed the lot to ensure that there were no differences in editing..but I see the jitter as well. I dont know what the deal is. The camera was on aperture priority (I know..it shouldnt have been..), but all the values are the same.

I too worry about still photography, I for one am not interested in video, but that is not to say it isn't for others.

Wonder what has happened to all those 8mm reels of film from 40 years ago.

That would make a cool avatar, lol. Cool concept though. Impressive FPS. I should try that with my 6fps. How did you make the GIF? Eventually, we will be able to shoot 24fps and can create cinema video using images.

I think that would be useless to be have 24FPS. You might as well shoot at 24FPS HD video and take stills from that. It would be roughly the same thing.

I made it a GIF by stringing the photos together in the Animate window in CS5. If you need further, more in depth directions, let me know.

Still from 24FPS HD video on my D7000 does not = a still from camera @ 16 mp. So I don't think it would be the same thing.
