I've used my phones as cameras for almost 20 years at this point. However, when I got my first point-and-shoot and kept it with me nearly everywhere, I significantly reduced the amount I used the phone because the picture quality of the little PaS was so much better in those days (~2009+). These days I usually have a bridge camera with me in the car when I'm out and about and prefer to use that, but if I can't get it out fast enough, I'll grab my phone and use it or if I'm going somewhere and carrying the bridge camera would just be clumsy then I'll just use my phone.

Don't think I'll ever abandon my cameras for a phone, they all have their use cases, but when I need to zoom in on a subject, I want optical zoom.

As i think I have mentioned before. If I could buy an up to date phone WITHOUT a camera i would. Give me back my Blackberry as I have no use for a phone camera.

I shoot with a phone too. But when I travel I take a pocketable Sony RX100-4. I don't like the ergonomics of cellphones. They're hard to hold and shoot plus I can't see the screen in bright sun. The Sony allows me to aim and shoot and see through an eyepiece or with the screen, the former helpful in bright sunlight.

The screen on the Pixel 10 pro is so good that I can see it even in very bright sunshine

I differ. Given the right setup I would give up my kit for something pocketable. Twenty years from now you will be amazed at how advanced cell phone cameras will be. Today they are just as good or better than any one inch sensor point and shoot. As technology develops and cell phone cameras become more sophisticated, I believe many amateur photographers will opt for comfort.

I have been snapping pics since the film days when I developed my own stuff. I couldn’t be happier with the smaller digital kits offered today. Even with my current very compact M43 setup I am always looking to downsize even more as long as it doesn’t mean giving up decent quality images. If I could find a phone or pocketable camera with an aps-c sensor, EVF, 26mp, and an f2.8 18mm-40mm lens at a decent price I would switch to that in a second and I would be a happy traveler!
