The Attack of the Pop-up Flash

I've used my pop up flash from time to time...Typically, I keep the power set to 1/16 or 1/32 to keep it from washing everything out. Every time I see a photo washed out by the pop-up flash, all I can think about is the episode from Frasier where Martin has that old school camera with the HUGE flash that blinds everyone...

I had the flash set to -2.5EV IIRC. I've found somewhere between -2.0 and -2.7EV seems to work out best. I could have increased the power a bit for the couple, but I was able to in post.
