The best camera for me?

I want to get more serious in photography. I really like it a lot, and I photoshop a lot (Photomanipulation), but It won't be my job besides selling a few pictures here and there. I will probably be photographing a lot of things, but it will mostly be horses and equine sports(high speed). My price limit is $800, can be used. However, I really only want to spend $400-500, if I could get away with it. I am also into videography quite a bit and I like to make a whole bunch of videos, but I won't be so serious about it like photography. I know these are CAMERAS and not VIDEO CAMERAS, so I'm not expecting a lot.

So I really wanted a canon rebel t2i. I like the video on it a lot, too. Do you think I should just get the rebel t2i? I will and can save up for it if it's really worth it.

I've also been looking at some Sony's. Like Sony a (alpha) DSLR-A390L 14.2 MP Digital SLR Camera.

Now I'm thinking I might like a really nice point and shoot camera, but I have always wanted to get a DSLR.

What cameras do you think would work for me? I just don't want to be disappointed with my purchase because I have high expectations and I really don't know that much about DSLR cameras. I also heard that LENSES are VERY VERY important, and I really don't know anything about them.

My old Canon xsi worked great for me when I was starting out. I don't believe they sell those anymore, but check out ebay and amazon!

Try the Nikon D5100, it shoots in 1080p and a really good body for an entry lever DSLR. I have the Nikon D3100 and I love it! I won't be upgrading for awhile till I make enough money to purchase another DSLR.
