Not to forget the loss of two lives, of a crew that loved her more than we can imagine, to try to save her and get her out of harms way.

I have a friend who has sailed with the Nina several times; when her last stint was up a few months ago, she seriously considered going aboard the Bounty, but in the end decided to stay on land for a while.
She is quite upset, and understandably so--she had a passing acquaintance with the girl who died (who had also worked on the Nina, though at a different time than my friend), and of course feels such a camaraderie with all the "Tall Ship" crews.

I'm so selfishly grateful that Erin was not aboard that ship, but my heart truly goes out to the families of the crew members who were lost.

I think he was just saying that there's always somebody suffering. And life goes on regardless.

It's a common theme in classical art and it's just one way of viewing the world.

I understand your point but at the same time it seems a little too self-righteous for me in the same way that I once offended someone by photographing a graveyard.

I only have so much sympathy to spare.

It actually has a lot to do with me. I had been I the bounty and sailed on it. Talked to a lot of their crew during my time. Your comments are rude and insensitive regardless of whatever religious affiliation you might have.
