What's new

The Coffee House

Well it came and went in less than 5 mins. Strong winds, heavy rain, took out power in the first few seconds. No damage that I could see, but no idea how long the power will be out. Could be hours or days.😡

Glad it was painless.

Poor Quincy had dental surgery yesterday. A few years ago he had 12 teeth pulled. This go round was many more. He is resting comfortable with the pain meds. He ate a little today. Poor pup got his beard cut off.
Reassure him it's a fashion forward look for Spring '23.

I take my dear esposa to the dentist on Monday for surgery. They provided drugs for beforehand and for after and I’ll be taking care of her for the rest of the day and all night. No driving, no operating heavy equipment, no cooking.

Take care of her, help her get well.

Well the storm lasted less than 5 mins and a little over 6 hrs later we are still without power. Been on generator for a couple hrs to keep the refrigerator and freezer going and run a couple lights. Just got back from driving around, the outages cover a big area, last estimate 8,000 just in our county. State wide it's really bad. This could end up being a muti day process.

Update: surprise, surprise our power just came on. I never dreamed they'd get us back that quick. Apparently it was a main feed for close to a 1000 homes and not a bunch of individual lines.

Poor pup, he can't have many more teeth left. Hope he's up and going quickly.

Bless her heart, that's not fun. At least she doesnt have to worry about loosing a beard like Quincy did. 😁 Hope she's on the mend quickly.

You're very lucky! Glad you had the generator to get through several hours.

Agreed, the worst outages are hundreds of smaller lines, with massive debris cleanup required. Been there!

Took the day off from work on Monday. I already do most of the cooking. Need to be creative. Maybe split pea soup. Hmmmm. Puréed liver and onions…
Split pea soup with hot crusty bread is delicious! The soup is pretty easy to throw together from a bag of peas, too. What would be easiest for her to eat?

Any creamy soup or broth, I suppose: tomato, split pea, chicken/beef/veggie broth.

Soup and broth. She is supposed to avoid anything hard or crunchy. We drink protein shakes for breakfast, although she will have to get used to not using a straw, since straws can create a vacuum in the mouth.

Hey Leo! Did you know lemurs like a Hint of mango water? and coconut flavor! And their hands are just like their feet! (nothing like some natural history thrown in with late night commercials).

I'm still trying to get over never ending bronchitis! I am better...

Couldn't read all of everyone's family and pet's medical whatever, not feeling up to even reading about it! But I'd say chicken soup. I've been in a sandwich and soup mode for awhile now, just the past few days feel like eating more than that. Hope it all goes well for everyone.

Smoke, glad you got power back. Windy here yesterday but sunny and clear as a bell today.
