The Coffee House

@terri had a skunk as a pet when I was in high school. Once descented, there was no odor. Raised him from an abandoned baby. Would follow me around the yard like a dog, loved to crawl in a lap and curl up in a ball.

That's so sweet! They seem docile enough.

When I peeked out later we had a possum out there. Busy night! In Texas, we befriended a large possum who visited the feeders like this. We took to leaving apple chunks there and could watch him waddle up to snatch them. Funny stuff.

Hosers. Had unexpected guests nosing around the bird feeder a short while ago.

I only got a couple of bad cell phone shots of one of them:

The other one stayed just out of light - and was really beautiful, actually, with a thick white stripe.

Both cats were inside and stayed inside. I didn't know that skunks are nocturnal. Haven't seen them at all since we've been here. They rooted around the feeder and then continued on their way.
Awwww! Stink kitty!!!

Meanwhile, water boils and evaporates in New York at the same temps 😅

I don't even try to find my mittens until it's in the 20s or 30s.
Like in outer space?

Yep, nocturnal, like trash pandas.

They're classified as nocturnal, but I've seen then out and about in the morning and late afternoon. Surprisingly they're like cats in many ways, fastidiously cleaning themselves. They aren't overly aggressive but will bite if they feel threatened or agitated. They have needle like teeth, my hand still bears the scar of a bite, where mine got me. I learned the hard way that unlike a dog they dont like to play rough.

Hi all, just a pop in between the madness of moving house.
I don’t know if I will have internet after October 31st so allying here will be by Mel phone.... I hope
all the best to all

Daughter was only in town for less than 48 hours with the grandbaby. I only took a few snapshots type photos. Too busy holding the little one.

She's a little beauty! I don't blame you for having a hard time putting her down for photos. Sounds like a very nice, but too short, kind of visit. :)

The little one's visit was too short. Hopefully the whole family will be back later this year.

Painting the outside doors trim. Got the front and the back. Husband can do the 3rd one. Have to take advantage of these warm days with low humidity to get projects finished.

Good evening, hosers.

We are heading to Assateague again this weekend. A drive in the sand, temps are staying sweet, I have a birthday coming up, and MLSIL wants to go chill out at the beach while I do a little fishing. Seeing the wild horses is an added bonus. We'll wrap up the day at a BBQ place up in Deleware that MLW and I tried a couple years ago and liked. MLSIL even mentioned a ride on the Lewes / Cape May Ferry (Lewes, DE to Cape May, NJ) but I'm not sure we;ll have that much time this trip.

I picked up an "Annual Senior All Inclusive" fishing license for $5 - a heck of a deal as it would be eight times that for the under-65 crowd. I have never done much salt water fishing, so I ordered a rod and reel. It's a lighter power than the two rigs here (both of which need a major cleaning, and re-lubrication). I'll pick up some cut bait and see what happens.
