The Coffee House

She's beautiful! Tell her that I love her ❤️
I told her, quack quack quack since i can't speak magpie🤣.

She comes inside through the front door into the foyer and the back door to raid the seed bowl🤪. She's been in the lounge room and the kitchen but i dont like her in there because i dont use curtains on those windows as i like to be able to look out into the gardens, dont wont her to get spooked by something and fly into them.

Just a screen grab from a video.

Humidex late day here cracking 100F+. Aftershocks of the 2 week Liquor Control Board of Ontario strike showing up at The Beer Store--provincial/industry-run retail outlets(Welcome to the People's Republic of Ontario). Kvetching aside, the system works despite manic calls to privatize the whole shlimazl. My fave import beers weren't in short supply but were scattered across the map. Did find them just-delivered nearby, so beer-film fridge well-stocked for our 8/1 civic holiday long weekend. Gripe about the heat and the frau just sneers and says, "Think January, Sparky..."

It is either raining overcast or sunny with steamy excessive heat days. Finally this morning no rain and sunny. Felt bearable outside. We got our cots ready and was in the hot tub for about 30 minutes when out of nowhere clouds and then a downpour.

Next week we are helping with the grands. Daughter sent us a schedule of who has to be where and which grandparents are on duty picking up and taking to activities. Grands' friends parents are helping out too. I joked to my husband that since we are retired we haven't had a schedule of two things in one day. :lol:

Just took the girls to a matinee. Remember when you could crash in a nice cool movie theater, and stay all afternoon for just a few bucks including concessions? No more, $30 for 2 kids tickets and 2 seniors. Add another $70 for 4 small soft drinks and a medium size bag of popcorn each!!! A 12oz draft beer was $12.🙄 seriously I don't know how large families make it.

PITA. Toronto gradually lost all its 20s-30s vintage neighborhood screens where broke students could watch second-run and offbeat films for peanuts. No issues smuggling in your own goodies including beers if discretely consumed. Only spend $$$ now to see knock-out stuff on IMAX--occasionally...

Yesterday my mom (82) had 3 of her friends over for a movie day. They got take out from the local sandwich shop and made their own drinks. I made them some popcorn then downloaded Thelma for $9.99 for them to watch. Then they all had a dip in the pool. They had a blast. I was having flashbacks from Princess’s play date days🤣🤣🤣.

During the darker days of the pandemic, we began sharing collections of off-beat schlock by mail: Italian horror movies; French New Wave; gawdawful B-- monster movies; Kinji Fukasaku Japanese gangster epics;
The Thin Man films; random anime; Ford westerns.You get it--a dog's cinema breakfast. Usually coupled with "interesting" food from our kitchens shared online among our crews. Efficacious lockdown medicine for all. Kinda miss it...

Movies are very expensive. We went to the matinee cheap showing and still was $$.

Over the years we have taken the grands shopping at Dollar Tree with a $5 each limit. Now at 13, 11, & 8 they want to go shoe and clothing shopping at Target. Adds up with 3, but daughter is grateful.
