The verdict is in:
I can NOT stand in the new kayak.
I have been using my sot fishing kayak so long I have forgotten how tippy a sit in can be.
I am quite sure sitting in the kayak doing nothing stupid I will stay dry. But I won't be able to just swing around to get pics of birds.

There are some kayak thrusters out now that are not too pricey. Not sure how good they are, but that's an option. Be cheaper than replacing all your gear.

Still hot here in St Louis. We planned on going to the Hispanic festival this weekend, but may still be too hot. Was looking forward to the food, booths, and performances. My camera has been sitting idle most of this hot summer.

Just go eat the spiciest thing you can find right away. The temperature will no longer bother you!

I missed an opportunity to go to the Southwest Airlines Classic Car Show, because it is much too hot and humid these days. Grandscape usually has several car shows when the weather gets cooler, so I need to keep an eye open for when they have them. I haven't done a whole lot with my camera lately, and really hoping that if finally starts to cool down so I can go on my walks again.

There's a show at a local airport. I no longer go 'cause it's brutally hot on a runway in summer. Is a great show too.

The new deck should be completed tomorrow!

The cost of lumbar right now is kind of revolting, but this deck will be built to last, at any rate.

And - I had a hummingbird in my byard this afternoon!

Looks good, terri. As far as the Nor'easter, we've had wind and some rain but not too bad. I think it was worse south of us.

That's what I keep hearing! This storm has been a monster. @SquarePeg is in the Boston area and some places have reportedly gotten 10" of rain in the last couple of days. Hope she's missed the worst of it.

We are in for our version of a Nor'easter tomorrow and Thursday, and they have already placed us under an aerial flood watch, not even a warning. The rain will be much needed, but I'd be happier if it was spread out over a few days instead of just two. Hopefully the cracks in the back lawn will close up with the moisture... don't want to lose one of the dogs...

Its fringes are creeping up here Wed thru Friday. Nothing Biblical-scaled but fairly heavy on Thurs. Will definitely slow my 'Burb Dad small concrete repair fiasco-in-the making project. The frau is already scheduling less-embarrassing jobs with higher success prospects. But it's really just aimed at curtailing over-refreshment and carousing and keeping me supervised and productively onsite.

Thank you! The deck is done and it's as tight as a drum - so glad we did it. A former homeowner built the last one, we learned after we moved in - so be careful!

We're supposed to be getting some of that Nor'easter here, too! Forecasters keep changing their minds, so we'll see. I know you could use a good Texas drenching, but here's hoping it's not a washout!

I had a hummingbird in the backyard yesterday, and today I saw a Black Swallowtail butterfly roaming around. It's been warm and lovely for the last half of September.

Lots of rain and wind gusts. Lost a bunch of dahlias that were covered in buds . They broke off right at the base. We had taken the pool and tent down a few days before and tied down most of the outdoor furniture. Otherwise we were ok. Lots of power outages but not our block. The only major issue was we ended up skipping the homecoming tailgate at Princess’s Alma mater because of the weather. Decided it was better to eat the cost of the tickets than to be miserable all day outside.

Sorry to hear about those dahlias - they've been doing so well! You were smart to get everything taken down and tie down the rest that could have been flying debris.

Great to hear that you didn't lose power! That was one nasty, far-reaching storm. I keep hearing about the beaches being devastated in many places.

Now we just have Hurricane Polo to watch. The fun never stops! The season is definitely here.

Nice. Me and a buddy are going to replace my back steps on my vaca later this month. There is only 8 steps and I can reuse the banisters so it shouldn't cost to much.

We started by saying we were only going to replace the steps....then all the rotten wood was exposed.
