What is everyone serving for the holiday meal?

Haven't actually nailed it down yet, but more than likely it'll be some kind of roast beef. We did a crown roast about 3 years ago that was fantastic, so it's coming around the menu Rolodex* again.

While it rests, the potatoes with sage and rosemary will go into the oven. Some kind of greens, and some kind of pie. There's always pie.

Last night I lost a few hundred pictures. Actually, I'm not sure exactly how many. Also, I lost a few short videos. I was prepping to burn a DVD with pictures from my Nikon 1 S2, going back to January of this year. It is not my "primary" camera, but I build up personal interest pictures in it. I have posted a few "here" in reduced form, but I kept "full size" with the intention of making prints. I was ARC'ing them to burn them to a DVD, but there wasn't much room on the card so I was building the ARC slowly adding files one or two at a time (deleting the individual files) and Windows ARC crashed and the archive is completely lost. Well, now I have some space on the card, but hours of work and some nice pictures are gone. Really, the program should have been written safer. It could have checked for space on the target media before doing something dangerous.

@VidThreeNorth the good news is that deleted files aren't actually gone, just the address/location. Windows 10 and 11 have a free recovery Data Recovery Specialists. Plus there's several inexpensive commercial apps.

I've done recovery in the past and sometimes it fails, mainly if you re-write over something in the meanwhile. There are only a couple of pictures that mean that much to me. If I get those back I'll be happy. . . .

I'm a millennial but I'm considered old now and I remember being a kid and wanting Rolodex because I thought they were so cool. I can't recall if I ever even got one. I do remember having a rolodex like product for my floppy disks though.

I love roasted potatoes with carrots, onion, celery topped with rosemary.
And I do know what a roledex is! Not to be confused with a Rolex.

DW makes a great Chili. Last night was vegetable beef also good enough to rerun tonight!

If you are lucky, they should be in the recycle bin, unless you tagged them to be permanently deleted.

I call myself Gen BoX... Boomer-X... because I don't think the line between generations is black and white. I can check boxes in both generations.

I call myself Gen BoX... Boomer-X... because I don't think the line between generations is black and white. I can check boxes in both generations.

I think the line is pretty close to black and white, they just put it in the wrong place. My birth year is at the very beginning of Gen X. I grew up firmly in Gen X mode in the 70’s and early 80’s. I think if they moved the Boomer end date to 1959 it would make more sense. When I hear the term boomer these days I think of people who are 65+.
