The Coffee House

Upgraded my cell phone today. Arrrgg getting it all set up and logging in to my apps. Popped into Aldi for a few things and busy! The parking lot is snow/icy and pushing the cart wasn't fun. Everyone was stocking up before tomorrow's next snow. Only 1 to 3" this round. I'm making chicken cutlets tomorrow. Found a recipe that uses Italian dressing with the egg dip.

New phone is always fun. Sometimes it's like starting fresh.

This weather is weird. Few miles from my house they got 6 inches of snow, I got nothing! The sun even came out. I guess where I am, I was literally right on the edge of the storm. A few miles north is all it took to make all the difference. So weird. But I am so sick of this cold snap and dry weather. No matter who much moisturizer I use..my knuckles are cracking and bleeding. I want my humidity back please.

I've been putting it off for too long. About a month ago I started deleting photos and video in my Gallery I didn't want. Last week I transferred the Gallery to my desktop. Last step was deleting almost everything in the Gallery. I kept a few albums there were photo ideas, editing, recipes, and of course my pup photo album. Yes, starting fresh. The old phone had 100GB and the new phone has 512GB. I'm going to cull with the new phone often. I had way too much junk photos on the old one.

I need to clean out mine as well. But when I look at the amount of photos I lose the motivation very fast haha. Once I upgrade my NAS with more storage, I probably can use it as my own personal cloud and wont have to worry about phone storage anymore. The main thing that is taking up space on my phone is videos. I keep a lot on my phone just in case if I want to go back and look at something or remember something its there but it rarely happens. I just need to put on an old tv show I like and just sit on the couch and cull my phone haha.

Going back to MD for a few days, next week. Going to attend my last state geo meeting. Probably grab a couple small things to bring back.

We had flurries last night; I wolke up to a disting. Calling for scattered snow showere today (it didn't) and Saturday. Electrician came by this afternoon to get details for bid - upgrade panel and whole-house generator. Energy company aready came and scoped out location for propane tanks.

Floor and paint in Lazy Lobster's area. It's coming together.

Love Aldi! Only place I know of that sells shopping carts for a quarter...

The one in Waldorf, MD (near our old apartment) had inexpensive arc-welders for sale; kind of odd for a food store. I should have grabbed one.

I'm doing my first meal in the Roemer Topf clay Dutch oven. Chicken legs and thighs on top of a bed of potatoes, carrots, celery, and onions, and flavored with rosemary, thyme, garlic, and lemon garnish. A cup of chicken broth will steam everything. In the words of Carly Simon, "Anticipation..." 👨‍🍳

The day started out with those big fluffy snowflakes, but it has since turned into rain, so the roads are looking more dangerous by the minute. On a positive note, a nice group of Juncos showed up at the feeder, and its fun to watch them flit about. I had to chase off the Collared Doves a couple of times, but they got the message and haven't come back, so that gives the smaller birds an opportunity at the feeder. Also saw a beautiful red-headed male House Finch and a female Cardinal at the feeder. Also so saw my resident Carolina Wren flitting about on the patio. I need to put the nesting box and mealworm feeder up for it. Too dark for decent photos, but it is supposed to be sunny on Sat and Sun, so maybe I'll pull out the 600mm and the tripod and get some shots of them.

Hahahhahaaahaaahaha. Let me know how that goes. I’ve said that every new phone, hard drive, laptop etc. Turns out I’m a photo hoarder.

I organize my regular photos taken with cameras pretty well. Now using film I can physically organize the negatives haha but photos and videos on the phone..nope. sometimes I take photos and forget I took the photos. It's weird.

Woke up to snow this morning, looks like we already have a couple inches on the ground and still coming down at a good clip. Supposedly turning to rain or freezing rain later this morning. Rain I don't mind, It'll clear the snow, but the freezing rain is a problem for us.

It's no fun. What saves us is residual salt left from snow clearing. Most uphill intersections with stop signs in my 'hood have bins of "pickled" sand deployed for spreading. Spinning tires can polish ice to a glass-like finish.
No snow recently but temps are painfully low. -4F this a.m.
