The Coffee House

Bad pun. Shameful actually. Embarrassing. On a lighter note: Ontario provincial liquor stores pulled ALL US booze and vino off their shelves Tuesday morning. Tough break for the drinking classes. Not sure I like being in the trenches of this trade war!
I just jabbed him for making a pun in another thread. We'll have to go easy on him - clearly the dude's on a roll.

I'll be stocking up on Marmite... panic buying 12 cases... before the prices go up...

I had a bad accident last night. I was trying to re-organize an 1TB SSD and I botched it. The card is essentially locked now, so nothing more can be deleted. I'll have to buy another 1TB card, or maybe a 2TB card this time and copy everything onto it so I can re-format this one. But I don't really have the time right now. . . .

@cgw I'm not much into hard liquor anymore, occasionally I'll drink a good bourbon, and beer (good beer) has to many calories for my diet. Riesling has been a recent choice at the store. Nothing compares to my oak aged Fig wine, it's probably fortunate that my supply is limited forcing me to ration it out as it will be at least 6 months before the next batch is ready.

If things get to bad, I am a country boy, with the knowledge/ability to convert some of the grain we grow into something drinkable.

This is normal here...walking through a foot of water in the backyard due to 4 feet of snow melting fast.

High winds, recent melt, now well below freezing temps=boiler plate ice everywhere today!
Have spread enough salt for a Guinness-record pool-size Margarita!
Hope came with today's mail and the last batch of flower and veg seeds.

Life is just strange. My dear wife, who is allergic to cats, brings home a "kitten" from school yesterday. My son takes it to the vet to have it checked out and see if its chipped. It's more than one cat... and it's not chipped...
Pics

Coming soon. The vet said the kitty needs to stay away from the dogs for now, so she's confined to my son's disaster, I mean room, which is not conducive to photos. I told him he needs to clean the place up for the pregnant momma, which he will do. I told him, the XO will be inspecting, and if it fails, it's Captain's Mast for him.

Hi Hosers! Windy here yesterday. Lots of issues including 3 utility poles that were hanging precariously over a busy road - Route 1 in Saugus, for those familiar with the area. Tons of traffic and chaos when they shut part of the road down.

Found my neighbors American flag, along with a portion of their flag pole, in the middle of our street being run over. Scooped that up and left it on their front porch.

All of our outdoor furniture covers blew away except for one. I’ll have to do a walk around the neighborhood this afternoon to see if I can find them in anybody’s yards.

Still breezy today but not quite as bad. Cold though. Still in the 30’s here. I enjoy the rest and solitude of winter, but I’m ready for warmer weather.

Hey! It's the weekend! You know how I know? I'ts RAINING! ☔ And it's going to rain tomorrow, and then clear up on Monday... when I have to work.

In other news, I've ordered my Major Wheeler honeysuckle. I have two places where I will plant it, next to an old set of shelves next to the fence, and on a garden arbor that I will be able to see from my workstation.

Awesome (the plant not the rain)!

A promise--likely false and fleeting--of spring next week before another (thankfully)brief temp drop. Just so damn much snow in S.Ontario this winter(busted a 2001 record) along with polar temp dives. Way too much salt spread here and at the family ruin to curb the ice. Brighter note: load of roses from a Niagara-on-the-Lake grower ready in a month--all bound for the ongoing garden rebuild at the family ruin. Putting the snowblower to bed couldn't come soon enough!

Sounds like a continuation of the system that just blew through here. I was certain we'd lose power. Crap was blowing everywhere!

But we made it through just fine and it's clear and beautiful today, only a little breezy. Temperatures are on the rise- upper 60sF° by Tuesday! That will moderate of course, but it's enough to get some early tree buds popping.

Spring is coming. :boogie:
