The Coffee House

Still can’t out on my own socks…
You don't realize how important the little things are till you can't do them. 🤣

@jeffashman pulled the truck out of the garage today. Came back a few hours later to find it covered with yellow crud. 🙄

So far it’s not to bad here, later the rape seed will bloom and I will live on anti histamine.....

About Vitamins:

I recently bought a box of Kellogg's Nutri Grain bars. I have had these before, and I like them, so I will buy them again. But in case anyone was interested, they are, like many commercial snack things, not that nutritious. In particular, though they are a "fruit" based snack, there is no substantial amount of Vitamin-C listed in them. I guess my expectations are a bit off. I generally expect fruit to have Vitamin-C. No, you should not necessarily expect that. For example cranberries do not have vitamin C. I know that, but still, I was disappointed.

Hey hosers.

It's been about an hour or so since I reached the decision that everything at work is really Monday Leo's problem.

I am looking forward to the return of cooler seasonal temperatures. Others may have enjoyed this week's foray into May weather, but my headaches disagreed.

In other news, I will be spending a chunk of my tax return on trees. There were two dead trees covered in vines between my house and the one next to me to the right. About 2 weeks ago, one fell down. The guy who bought that house recently to turn it into a rental property took care of removing the tree and this week, he took down the 2nd dead tree. This was smart and it's good that he did. However, now there is NO visual separation between the houses and there's a sweeping view down the road. And I hate it. So I am going to plant a line of arborvitaes.

Here's a picture from 2 winters ago showing the dead trees and how open it can be without the trees. There was always a gap between those two trees and a different live tree that I wanted to cover up. But now I want a line all the way down the driveway.

Can't believe you expected a wheat based bar with a shelf life of probably 18 months or so would have anything nutritious inside of it... 🤣

We had a good dumping of rain today, and it's a bit cooler. Hoping it washed a lot of the pollen out of the air.

Tax return? What's that? 😂

I'm hemming and hawing about putting two trees in the back yard to provide more shade (on the west side of the house) and more habitat for the birds. Will probably order from the Arbor Day Foundation.

How cool is Uber Eats when you need them! We rarely drink coffee but just woke up and really felt like it this morning. Stay in bed and get a bottle of milk dropped off. Convenience at it's finest! ✅
Yeah, we've relied on them a few times, everything from ordering from our favorite Asian places, to burgers, salads, and sandwiches. Nice convenience when one doesn't want to get out of the jammies... 😂

Arborvitaes are a great idea. They grow fast and are pretty sturdy. We planted a line of them to separate our large, open back yard in Georgia. They looked beautiful and thick within 4 years. Watch the spacing and give them room. ;)

Morning all, least ways it’s morning here ... just. Rain has put pay to today’s “day out with camera”
just waiting for some CSI style photo props to arrive from Amazom the I will ’play’ at CSI style shots

Last week was in the 70s; we even had the top panels off the truck one night. Yesterday was a bit cooler but still warm in the sun. Today is the same but so far, cloudy.

I need to run the line trimmer at MLSIL's; she has some grass that has gotten high and her regular lawn mintenance guy won't be there for a week or two. A 15-minute job for me, and since the trimmer is battery operated, there's no annoying whine.

Yesterday, we went to a St. Patrick's Day celebration (I know, a day early) of sorts, at a brewery over in Virginia. It was nice and the big draw for MLSIS were a couple alpacas and a baby goat. There was a shop that has mini rum cakes and ice cream. MLW picked out a few of the cakes and I got a pint of Guinness ice cream.

For those that celebrate St. Patrick's, Sláinte. Yesterday I wore green, and today I'm wearing orange. I'm not sure where the Sullivans in the family came from, specifically, but the only Catholics are the Italians.

Howdy and happy St Paddy's Day! Cooler temps this week. We had a hellacious thunderstorm roll through last night, and it pruned a branch off of our Bradford Pear. If it didn't cost so much, I'd have the whole thing cut down, especially since it is near the end of its lifespan, but having a tree cut down is so expensive anymore. Too wet and soggy to do anything outside today, so I'll just chill indoors.

Mother Nature ripped out both the Bradford Pears I had in my front yard in Georgia, about 2 years apart from one another, I think they topped out at around 15 years, and looked fine for about half that time. Once they start getting top heavy, it's just a matter of time.

Snow is swirling outside, like a tiny white shower, not really hitting the ground. The birds are acting like we're in for a cold night - I've topped off the feeder twice today and tossed out extra cracked corn, in sympathy. :586:

The last half of March will stay on the cool side, which is fine with me - just don't want any more snow at this point!
