The Coffee House

Much needed cold beer and Aalborg shot just administered. Patient responding well to treatment...
Sorting out repair of a partial ceiling collapse at the family ruin today. Small roof leak brought down a 4'x4' section of plaster+lath that crashed through a false ceiling. Guessing the cover-up dates from the 1940s(?). The living room section affected is from around 1900(?). The oldest section of the house is 1840s. That's in remarkably good shape for a frame house--a rarity for the area where stone or brick Victorians dominate, replacing 2 storey wood builds.
Happy to live in a rock-solid Eisenhower-era brick bungalow...

That must have been a fright!

I'm on speed dial with my 96 yr-old FIL who lives in the place alone. The initial mess landed in a corner away from furniture and old carpets. Got the old wide plank floor cleaned up quick. Roof repair was the easy part. Getting an OK patch job arranged is the next joy. More work ahead when management changes.
At least the gardens provide welcome distraction!

Fairys live in there somewhere😉.

Happy weekend Hosers! I’m going low key this weekend and doing some end of season cleaning now that Princess has moved back to school. Senior year for my baby. Can you believe it’s gone by so fast? She’ll be graduating in May with her BS in Biology and Chem.

Little rant.

Was out at the park, seen someone in camouflage gear walking through the water which no one ever does in a public park. 200 odd meters away i look through the telephoto and see a juvenile with a shotgun.

Ended up walking around there to see his dad on the bench, told him the cops are on they and to put the thing away. He replied get fkd, you put your camera away mind your own business.

Well seems the cops got shitty with me because it was a plastic imitation shotgun with all the moving parts and motions.

Looks like in Australia you can walk around with an imitation gun and your not committing an offence??? They let them go. Didn't hold the father to account.

Ps. Told the cops sorry i wasted your time, dont worry i wont report someone walking around a park with a firearm again. Real or not.

Pps. Go figure hey? I still have a sandwich left.

Never again am i calling the police, I've lost my faith in them after today. What BS. Seriously i dont understand. They didn't even confiscate the weapon.

Looked real enough 200 meters away and real enough 10 meters away. There's no place for this kind of behaviour in my books.

Unauthorised possession of a firearm It is an offence under the Firearms Act to have unauthorised possession of an imitation or replica firearm. The offence carries a maximum penalty of 14 years imprisonment, with a standard non-parole period of 4 years.

Cops or not, good on you for noticing and doing something about it
When some loon shoots up a park full of people the cops will ask why did no one report seeing the person acting in a strange way
Don’t know how to do it but one of those trophy e mo things for you

My kayak course is this afternoon.
I am not a wine connoisseur. I couldn't resist this.
