What's new

The Coffee House

I was looking for Sunrise/Sunset info on Environment Canada's web site weather forecast. I think the page I usually look at used to have the info. It does not now, and I had to "walk the tree" for a while, but I found that Environment Canada now has an actual astronomy oriented open sky map page. Anyway tonight was a fairly good night and I took a picture towards the SE. I've cropped it and re-compressed it. Like Dave said in 2001 Space Odyssey -- "It's full of stars". Well, not that full, especially compared to what they see in the southern hemisphere, but better than what I usually get.

Looks like the weather is finally turning cooler for us. We've been enjoying beautiful low 70s for some time now, but that's about to change with highs in the 60s and night time temperatures bumping the freeze mark.

Well after some negotiation, I'm a finally a tractor owner. Its used but new to me and well its practically new as well. I think I got a good deal on it, couldn't pass up the opportunity.

It's a 2022 Kubota L2501 with the loader, 66" bucket, pallet forks, snow plow, 3 point ballast box, diamond studded snow chains and mechanical level indicator. Only 47 hours on it. There's not even a scratch on it.

So I'm excited. Can't wait to get it here. Going to be able to get a lot of work done with that bad boy!

Drive it to Maine - I have a big rock I'll give you.

A few hundred, 3000, or 5000 - all the same when all you have is a hand shovel and a riding mower, though the truck might be able to pull it a little.

Maybe I'll just decorate it.

My tractor probably would push it haha

Drill several holes in a line with a hammer drill. Then pack the holes with black powder, wadding and fuses. Doesn't take much, don't need to ratlle the neighbors. :chuncky:

Or go old school, buy rock wedges & shims (home depot/Lowes, etc). Drill the appropriate size hole drop in the wedge/Feather. With a small sledge, go down the line driving each wedge in. It will eventually split.

The Apple watch has a watch face that gives you sunrise and sunset times, as well as the phase of the moon. Not sure about other watches.

Same here in North Texas. We'll miss the first frost because we will be in the Cayman Islands for about a week when the first really cold nights roll in. May just overwinter there... 🤣
