What's new

The Coffee House

We made it home without any incidents. Roofers are here and working on one section at a time because of continued threat of rain.

Aging for me means uncharacteristic restraint in doing things that otherwise might injure, maim or kill me. It's a work in progress. Still, that inner gonzo still whispers, "What are you saving yourself for?"
A couple years ago, when I started fishing again, I went to a creek in western MD looking to get some fine brook trout. I used to cross the stream by walking across fallen logs, even with two or three meter drops.

This time I walked several meters back downstream until I found a place to step (very cautiously) on rocks to cross, then back up stream.

The neighbor's Speraea is in full bloom and stunning. I've been waiting until a nice sunny day, but all we have is rain and overcast. Hopefully it will stay in bloom for photos.

With the rainy days I've been busy with the water coloring projects. Picked up new brushes last week and brushes do make a difference. I've been watching tuts and reels. The artists make it look so easy

Oh, we have an azalea in the front of the house!

Want a challenge? Get a “kids” set, like a Crayola eight color set. The limited pallet can be fun. I found the brown they use has more of a red shift than I prefer so I add a little green.

Lazy Lobster is taking us to a folk music night in Portland. It should be fun.

So sorry! Have you gotten a formal diagnosis on this? If not, get it looked at and see if there's anything that can help manage symptoms.
Re Lyme Disease: No formal diagnosis yet. It looks like I'm going to have to get one. I have a couple of new bites too. One is small and healing (probably not a deer tick), but the other (on my right knee) has a similar result as the one on my back. I'm covering it with iodine and it's at least a week old now. I don't think I mentioned it, but yes, we have deer wandering along the Humber River area. I met a couple within the last month.

Yes, please get it checked.

Well, the folk music thing is a monthly sing-along event. It was fun, though I personally consider singing a spectator sport. A lot of sea chanties were featured. Lazy Lobster braved a rendition of Stan Rogers’ “Barrett’s Privateers.” It was an enjoyable evening out, and I will definitely go back. I guess I need to really learn to play the bodhran.

For the culturally-deprived, the canonical version of a song we never tire of singing in less-than-sober gatherings:
