What's new

The Coffee House

No shake issues but I've long used a big Manfrotto monopod for my 35mm stuff. Takes kinda-sharp to pin-sharp without the clumsiness of a tripod.

For all of the TPFers in the St. Louis area and other areas hit by the storms, hope all things are good for you. 600K without power!
That ended up being a wicked batch of storm cells, swirling around several states. Lots of power outages in MI, too. We had a few thunderstorms overnight but nothing like other areas. All it did here was blow in another cool spell - it's overcast and 59F at the moment. A wild drop from the upper 80s.

Stay safe, everyone! Springtime weather clearly isn't over yet.

Which Manfrotto monopod are y'all using? With feet? Without feet?
I think it's still in MD, so I'll check when I get back next week. Not very expensive - Aluminum and I think just the rubber foot. I've had it a few years.

Today's morning-birds-outside-my-window: the State bird of Maine, a pair of Black-capped Chickadees.

We are going to a dairy farm and creamery in Scarborrough this afternoon. MLSIL loves all kinds of animals so I'm taking her to a goat cuddling session. I have a bunch of their milk bottles to return so we'll do it all at once. We refer to their chocolate milk as "liquid fudge." MLW loves the blueberry, as well. They also have decent eggnog near the holidays. I'll swing by the sporting super store when we're done and pick up some fishing tackle - most of mine is in a box, probably in the garage.

The National Jeep Topless ride was fun, even with all the rain. The Car Dealership sponsoring the event matched all donations to the Jeeping For Veterans organization. After the main show, we skipped the Coastal Tour ride; I'drather go alone or with one other car and enjoy the sights. I drove down to Bar Harbor for a quick look around. Rainy, foggy day so the ocean was pretty unimpressive.

This rescue baby with the beautiful blue eyes is being socialized, he is very skittish. He let MLSIL and me pet him after a few minutes. His "sister" (the black lab mix) is very friendly.

I picked up a few more ducks.

I added this to my Wish List and MLSIL said she take the second one. Need to hit that number, LOL!

You Jeepers know how to have fun - looks like a nice time!

I know you've explained the rubber duck thing before but it escapes me. The hubby and I passed a Jeep in a parking lot a few days ago and there were a few on the dashboard. I wanted to explain it to him but couldn't, beyond saying, Well, it's a thing!

"It's a Jeep thing, you wouldn't understand" is the standard response. :laugh2:

The late Allison Parlaiment started the trend as an act of kindness after being accosted during the pandemic. A short background is in Road and Track's obit. There is more information but the site is on FB and I know not everyone uses it (MLSIL doesn't). I have one of these, but still packed. They are badges, intended tpo go on the fenders, like the "Trail Rated" badge from the factory.

Close enough - Smiling Hill Farms and Hannaford (the main grocery store in Maine)

The Goat Cuddling. Mama (Ruth) and baby #1; MLSIS (cropped out) and baby #2. Crop on #2 is because MLSIL does not like her photo posted. Baby #2 actually fell asleep in MLSIL's arms.

It's been a whirlwind two weeks, as we attended graduation exercises for our two oldest grandsons. Gabe graduated Cum Laude from Kennesaw State University in GA with a degree in Chemistry last week. Will graduated Suma Cum Laude from Mississippi State University with a degree in International Engineering. To say I'm a proud Papa these two outstanding young men would be an understatement. Gabe hasn't fully decided, but thinks he's going to try working, Will was offered a position in a MSU research project, that will pay his tutiion to pursue a Masters and provide a nice stipend to live on.

Jeesh, recall seeing kids and lambs in car backseats on the run up to Orthodox Easter in Toronto Greek 'hoods. Not bound for petting zoos!

Actually a working farm. Just a bit of supplemental income and something for kids and families. Good therapy for us.

Played on the dock for a bit this evening. Both were about 10 to 12 inches long. Both were released,
