The Difference A Little Time Makes

I had a week of training in downtown LA last week. There was no doubt I was taking the camera along and it paid off. Class ended at 2:30 on Friday so a new friend and I took the bus out to the Santa Monica Pier. We got on the beach about 20 minutes before the sunset and I shot the top one. There is no b&w or selective coloring there. That's really the way it looked. 10 minutes later the clouds started breaking and I ended up with the second shot as the sun finally went down.

I don't usually have the freedom of schedule to be there at the right time, but this one worked out quite well.

The 2nd one is the best. I like the dark clouds taking up the sky but the glow of the sun is still shows very nicely. I love that theres a nice glow off the crashing wave on the right from the sun. Very nice.

I do like the first one as well, the nice haze over the hills is very nice. It takes longer to enjoy that because its seems very dull at first.
