The Dogs are taking over the beach

I like it.

I don't think it's always necessary that an image lead the eye directly to the right spot, and drop it off there to wait for a bus. Leading is much more important in the negative -- it's not good if the eye is led out of the frame, it makes it hard to look at the thing.

While I'm a bit restless looking at this, that kind of fits with what's going on, dogs running around all over the place. Many of the dogs being cut off by the edge of the frame helps with a bit of that sense of frenetic uncontained activity. It's not a powerful commentary on the nature of man, but I think it's a nice summary of Dogs On The Beach.

The Big Out Of Focus Element at the bottom of the frame, close to the camera, is a thing with a lot of antecedents. I can't quite put my finger on 'em, I think of it as very modern which probably means 1960s or something. Anyways, I think it's one of those things that's basically always funny, at least a little bit.
