The Don King of the water ways

This Hooded Merganser was way out of his habitat along the Humber river. He has picked a female mallard as a mate and was just scaring off all male mallards that came close. A birder told me he has been watching him for days and he won't leave the female mallards side. Not sure if a merganser and a mallard can produce offspring but I would love to see the result.
