The Duck

Even though I have lived in Houston 10 years, I haven't really been to Galveston that much. I grew up near South Padre Island so I was used to visiting the Gulf of Mexico.

I recently went to Galveston and decided to take a Duck Tour to get a lay out of the city. And because I like being a big cheesy tourist! The Duck is a World War II transportation vehicle that drives on the land and goes straight into the water and then goes back on land. After the tour I went back to the point where The Duck goes into the water to get some shots.

Not bad, not bad at all! I was expecting another person to join the fray of ducks-crows-pigeon naming threads (it's all JonMikal's fault! ), but the modified boat (I think it's modified from a Russian BTR-70 APC, which is amphibious, judging from the the hull and the "plank") was not what I expected. I love the "sail into the setting sun shot, although it could do better with some dramatic sunsets... but no complaint. Well done.

No... no. Galveston isn't a big city and it is laid out on a grid. This tour went all over the place so when it was over I had an idea where everything was. The harbor is that way, the beach is the other way, the boat docks are over there.
