What's new

The entrance to Oslo

That's gorgeous! I love the cloud formations

Lovely, Janok! :)

Very nice! I live not far from there, if I had a car, I'd drive out and try for myself :)

Your work just gets better and better.

I had to take a good long look at picture #1 as I was 1st somewhat confused by the clouds reflection in the water. But once I got by that, I loved the picture.

Picture #2 is just outstanding.

Janok, I've looked closely at both of these images at their original size on Flickr.

The most attractive part of the image in #1 is the glassy water. You went with a 1/2 : 1/2 composition whereas the lower 2/3 of the frame being the glassy water would've been more appealing. This image could've improved from rule of thirds.

In # 2 there are some chromatic aberrations on the island to the left of the frame. The cloud formations seem to be the more interesting in this particular shot, thus a 2/3 weight to the clouds would've been nice.

In both photos it seems you are too far from your subject and compromise sharpness. If my memory serves me correctly, you are shooting a 60d? For this type of shot it seems that a full frame sensor and/or nicer lense may help with sharpness/clarity.

Let me know your thoughts and if any of these assumptions were incorrect!

Cheers.

Rotanimod - you are right. #1 would be improved by cropping of a part of the sky, going for 1/3 x 3 :-)
#2 had to be cropped a lot to zoom into the interesting parts (the clouds and the crane). This compromised the sharpness. Following your suggestion - I could crop of the wharf. I tried it, and the composition looked better. The issue is that the lack of sharpness became more visible since it remaining part of the picture became very small.
Thank you for your feedback - it is highly appreciated.
