What's new

The haiku thread!

I did not write it
Is it cheating to post it?
It still makes me laugh

Cab'nets and counters,
tiles, paint, lamps, and the curtains.
Kitchen's almost there.

We will need pictures
Photographic evidence
Of all your progress!

Kitty not happy:
Too much going on for her.
Will give her some treats.

Still some work to do;
fill holes and paint this weekend.
Pano' coming soon.

Salted caramel
ice cream with some brownie bits.
Oh, yeah; Godiva.

The haiku above
just caused my belt to tighten
thanks much to snowbear😏
You are so welcome.
Ice cream is best shared with friends.
Next: Tiramisu.

I am a retard
I forgot my own routine
Sent film through X-ray

800 and less
Used to be fine to send through
That was years ago

So I had to ask
ISO warnings the same
Fingers crossed we'll see

Shot two rolls at work
One 100 one 50
Those two should be fine

But I had one more
One for today I had hoped
Guess what film it is

So now I must doubt
I'll be getting that picture
Down in the tunnel

Think I need to buy
One of those lead lined small bags
Because I am dumb

Family is first.
Helping care for sis-in-law.
But I miss my Maine.

a fair wind serves all
it knows not heaven nor hell
only our good earth

Haiku [hy' koo]: noun
  1. a major form of Japanese verse, written in 17 syllables divided into 3 lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables, and employing highly evocative allusions and comparisons, often on the subject of nature or one of the seasons.
  2. a poem written in this form.

Have fun with it!

I don't want to be a killjoy. But the cadence and structure of the Japanese language is different than other languages. So it seems to me that translating Haiku procedure to English misses something. No?

Absolutely. That's why our (western) syllable count is in error at the beginning. The discipline calls for 'on', not syllables at all, but, the author of the thread said, "have fun." 😊
