I was very lucky to find this brown hyena very early the morning at 5:30 am as soon as the parks gates opened up we tracked him for about 45min but as you can see the bush was very thick and he was doing everything he could to avoid us so could not really get a good shot... brown hyenas are very illusive and usually travel alone, finding one of these could be more difficult than finding a leopard.. @WesternGuy as promised

They look powerful. Pretty good shots IMO.

Great shots of an animal i most likely will never get to see in the wild

Thanks appreciated

#2 is very nice. It makes me want to be very still to avoid being a meal.

He does look like he could be pretty mean

Thanks bud, see that's why I love photography one can share moments that might not be obtainable for others with them

Very nice! Thanks for sharing.

Thank you very much

Carlos, thanks for sharing. Like always, you get the best shots you can and these are quite good, given the elusive nature of the animal.

I have been told that there are only about 8000 of them left in the wild, so I guess that makes them endangered.

I look forward to your next shots from your excursions.

I see their range includes Namibia; I'll look out for them when I go to visit my brother in April.

Great shots of a very elusive animal. Spent about an hour with a small pack of spotted hyenas near a water hole when I was last in Kruger. Was great watching them in their 'social' environment. I think these are solitary iirc.
