I kind of figured it would turn out that way when I took the picture because I was trying to get a low ISO @ 1/200 sec. when the bird did that unexpected food toss. As you can see, the low setting worked out ok in #1 when the bird wasn't moving fast. I'd thought about not posting it but I couldn't pass up a food toss.No1 for me too - there is a slight motion blur on the 2nd image = around the head

1/200th sec?? that's rather slow in my book- I try to achieve 1/2000th sec if I can - this means pushing the ISP way high, that said Sony Mirrorless bodies can handle noise extremely well up to ISO 6400Thanks, Lez. My camera doesn't handle high ISO very well so I had the VR turned on, it holds the image very still in the viewfinder and it allows me the low ISO's for when it's dimming around sunset. I generally don't use the VR for birds in good light and usually go with a min. of 1/1600 sec.1/200th sec?? that's rather slow in my book- I try to achieve 1/2000th sec if I can - this means pushing the ISP way high, that said Sony Mirrorless bodies can handle noise extremely well up to ISO 6400
