The most casual wedding in history.

Literally.
the entire ceremony was 30 minutes. Tops. Probably closer to 20 minutes.
Then they did a quick walk (run) around afterwards which lasted maybe another 30 minutes.
then into the restaurant for dinner.
The "rules" for the venue were strict. no flash, no equipment bags, no tripods. Grab a camera and a lens and hope for the best.
the bride wanted a few (she actually said "no more than 5") pictures just for documentary purposes.
she got a few more than that...hopefully she probably wont complain too much about it.

The mustache started as a joke. I have a big mustache. It's really just for funsies.

Nope.
Straightened to the best of my abilities.

maaaaaaybe on the group shot, i can see just a hair difference.
on the two of them, almost no difference at all.
such a small difference either way. im fine with mine.

Very nice. On the last photo I'd probably crop up slightly so the edge of the frame isn't cutting right above their ankles (plus it would give their faces more real estate), but other than that, looks good.

Hey maybe they've got better things to do than spend a lot of time messing around with a long ceremony! lol They look happy, that's the main thing, and you got some nice photos for them which is what they wanted.


I think it might be more that the background has a lot of lines and angles and curves etc. The second one across the top looks straight, it might be the angle they're standing in relation to it, or that latticework might not be too sturdy and is on a bit of a lean. I agree about adjusting the cropping for the last one.

(I think that whole arbor is leaning and it's a good thing they weren't standing under it! lol The first one is tricky but the bench leg to the left looks parallel to the side of the photo... doing sports I often go by a post or pole in the background, and frame so it's parallel to one side or the other of the viewfinder.)

I am glad you were there to capture the moments. The restrictions on how you could photograph are very odd for an outdoor venue. I mean ... why should they care if you use a flash or a tripod? Lew is right about the tilt. In post, I would have used those vertical lines to set my horizon. But, if you're fine with it ... then sobeit ... the defense rests. I hate ceremony, 30 minutes is too long. (lol)

These are all they need to remeber the day because they will remember the day forever, my wedding starts at 3.30pm 15-20 minute ceremony then a few photos loads of beer then the hog roast more beer then i hit the dance floor for a bit of Northern soul, then supper of bacon sandwiches and chips (fries)

I may be converted....
quick ceremony, couple of quick shots after....then right to food and drinks.
it was awesome.
now im wishing MY wedding had gone like that...

I think I understand.

The whole "professional photographer" thing would spoil the symmetry of their casual wedding.

If the photographer was going to go to extra trouble in getting some photographs, then they should have dressed up more.

And maybe invited a few more people, and decorated the venue, and served some cake, and had some music and a dance floor, and perhaps more flowers, and...and...and..
