I went to a surprise wedding once. Everyone thought they were going to the couple's house for the annual bbq. They had been together for many years but never made it official. About 1/2 hour after everyone arrived, they said they had an announcement to make. We all thought finally!!! they are engaged but nope, they introduced the pastor and got married right then and there in the backyard. It totally suited them both.
