The Savior on my wall

This is a photo I snapped of the Crucifix in my living room. I have really been trying to get better with my macro and I am pretty happy with this one. This Crucifix is only about a foot long. Any C&C is always welcome and appreciate. Thanks!

This is an example of how emotions that the OP interfere with his objective evaluation of the image.
Objectively, it is a picture of a crucifix taken at a rather sharp angle with heavily raked light for drama.
The near hand of the subject is clipped and yet there is lots of room on the other side, giving an impression of mis-framing.
It is shot in landscape mode rather than portrait and so the figure is truncated around the waist, missing the dramatic portion of the legs and feet.

Apparently I still suck, hahaha. Oh well, live and learn. Thanks for berating my picture The_traveler and making it seem like I am some holy roller that can't look past my subject to evaluate it. My wife is the Catholic in the house, not I. While I do believe in God, I don't have an overwhelming emotional attachment to the crucifix. I was happy with the image because I was able to figure out my f/stop, ISO, white balance, and shutter speed all on my own. All I had was a end table lamp illuminating it and was able to come out with a clear image without a flash, in manual mode, and in RAW format. I didn't want a portrait style of the entire crucifix but wanted to focus on the face itself. I think I accomplished at least that much. I do understand what you are saying about composition, but you need to learn how to offer constructive criticism. I have been painting for over 15 years and can honestly say you are the first person that has criticized my work in a way that agitated me due to your assumptions. If you want to offer ways I could improve my photography, please do, but do it in a way the offers a path to bettering my work. I have checked out your website and your photography is fantastic and you have a ton to offer in this forum, but you offered a C&C that was belittling and closed ended with no actual tips to improve the shot. Saying it has a sharp angle with dramatic lighting offers no path to better the shot. At this point I believe I am done with this forum and will be moving on elsewhere. There are many of you on here that would rather say how bad a photo is and personify how great your photography is. I get it, you are a pro, but everyone makes mistake early on in their attempts in art. No one just picks up a camera and is instantly amazing. That is the end of my rant. Good day.

I wasn't trying to berate you but only responding to what I read and see.

The only hints I got were that you felt something special about this because you chose to capitalize 'Crucifix' twice and named the subject as the 'Savior.'
If comments on the composition were out of bounds, how was I to know that?

This seems to me to be constructive.
No, I am not wordy and don't feel the need to say nice things to make sour medicine palatable.
I say exactly I think - or close.
If you prefer I not respond to what you post, I will happily put you on 'ignore' but I think that you would be cutting yourself off from some good input if you leave.

G2, how do you feel about the empty space on the right, and cutting of the hand on the left?
I like the dramatic light, but it does feel miss framed. I don't agree that it needs to be shot in portrait orientation.
But I do believe it is poorly framed. Since it is something that is just hanging around, why not reshoot, and try for better composition?

What I didn't say before is that it isn't possible to give tips on improving or getting closer to your goal if you haven't told us what your goal was.

If you actually tell us what you want to hear, it is much easier to give constructive help.
