The Tattoo

He's a guitar player in a sound recording studio and has his own late night heavy metal radio show starting next week. Not too bad for a 19 year old. Doesn't wear caps backwards, doesn't wear baseball caps at all, doesn't skate board either. Spends all his time building a career in music. The first part of his tattoo was his high school graduation gift from his mid 50's parent's. The tattoo artist is brilliant, I'll post some shots of my tattoo when it's done, being 57 I won't have to wait until I'm older to wonder what it will look like.

He also knows how to wear his pants, no sagging prison look for him.

Maybe if my mum had had enough chutzpah to get a tattoo she wouldn't be the miserable old hypochondriac sitting around complaining about her aches and pains and mythical problems all day. It's all in the attitude.

Granddad, I'm betting your mum is at least 80 yrs old and her aches, pains, and problems are more true than mythical. You'll find this out in a few years. LOL! She's earned her right to complain.

Some pretty neat shots. I might be biased though because I spent about 4 hours of last weeks saturday afternoon getting photos of my friend as she had her chest piece cone and i 'll be going back to get photos of the shading and then the completion. I'm a big fan of tattoos though I only have one right now myself. I have another planned out but for some strange reason I keep spending the money on camera gear.

I wouldn't mind getting a small one if it was genuinely symbolic and meaningful, but it would have to have a damn important meaning to be permanently inked onto my body.

Before he got his tattoo we checked into the artist, met with him and discussed exactly what was wanted. I can't stand the random tattoo's that don't seem to have any meaning other than "they were drunk at the time" and it seemed like a good idea.

As a 24 year old male, I'm so glad I decided against getting muslces tattooed on my arm when I was 18.

That said, nice work, I'm sure he digs it. Pretty cool about his music situation. Does he play in any bands? (link 'em)

Doesn't play in any bands, is working in a studio helping with setups right now, still learning in business.

I don't know his situation at all, but hopefully he's not letting "learning the business" hold him back from joining any bands. The best chance he has is getting out and jamming with everyone he can. Metal, rock, jazz, anything. Get those chops, and the best way to learn is playing with other people. Promise. Good luck to him. In fact, as he'll find out - the biggest part of the business is who you know. Doesn't necessarily mean you don't have a shot if you don't know the right people, but knowing someone related to whatever he wants to do with music will make things that much easier.

It's amazing how many people do that. while we were there a lady came in, said she wanted something on her shoulder. and 15 minutes later she points into a book and says give me this one.

Like anything you have to do some homework to get what you want. If you buy a car you read about it, same with a camera, and those can be easily replaced. If you get a tattoo above the collar line, you've made a life decision that you can't change, not without pain. I saw a tattoo on a guy that was his jaw bone, teeth, and it was amazing work, single colour fine line, but he looked to be about 17 years old, it can be covered up with makeup, but what's the point. My son chose something that was different, certainly not what you see everyday, and a shirt hides it when he has to.

They are expensive, especially if you want it done right. In photo terms he has already spent the price of a 70-200 2.8 on this one.

You don't know my mum. Half her aches and pains and restricted mobility are because she's refused to do physio as assigned by her Dr for years, the rest vanish as soon as the dinner bell rings.
I already have aches and pains but they aren't my sole topic of conversation.

I tend to wind up in places with a lot of heavily tattood people. ive seen guys with tattoos all over the face and pretty much every exposed part of there body. don't think anything surprises me anymore when it comes to them lol.
