The Town Forest I

I decided to check out the town forest today. A video of a bobcat was posted recently and I thought I might get lucky. No bobcat. But I did discover a revolutionary and civil war cemetery. I found this all alone in a far corner. I'm no expert but I believe to reference the Grand Army of the Republic, Post 90 in Massachusetts.

Nice find. Didn’t realize you were so close. I’m in Melrose. I’ve never been to Danvers forest but will have to check it out. There are so many great local hiking/walk in the woods spots that I’ve found in our area. Breakheart in Saugus is easy and beautiful if you get off the paved walkways and get on the trails, and the Fells over by Spot Pond is gorgeous. Bradley Palmer up by you is also beautiful.

Yes, until I started looking I hadn't realized how many good local hikes there are. I haven't tried any that you mentioned yet but I will put them on my list. I recently hiked in Willowdale State Forest in Ipswich. I found a trail along the pond, nice colors and few swan. But I had a bad photo day and didn't like any of the shots I came back with, so no posts.

Definitely check out Breakheart. The dogs and I like Silver Lake trail for a nice leisurely walk. There’s one trail that has Boston city views as well but it’s a climb with some scrambles.

We’ve all had bad photo days - usually in bright sun without a polarizer! Sometimes You just need to put the camera away and enjoy the walk.
