Thievery at the bird feeder

While sitting outside on the patio, I found out why my bird feeder is perpetually running low on bird seed. I hope the birds can find any leftovers!

I've got a lot of that going on, darn squirrels.

grease the pole. they say it helps. I'm not sure what you'd grease it with though, Vaseline?

I don't want to grease the pole since I've heard doing so harms any birds that hang onto the pole. Either I learn to live with the squirrels raiding the feeder or buy a squirrel proof feeder. Sometimes, I run out into the back yard yelling like a maniac to shoo the squirrels away... much to the amusement of my neighbor.

Or break down and by squirrel feed. That's what I did lol. Small townhouse patio and I have 5 feeders now.
