It has been known, I've seen bokeh in all kinds of shapes, but never actually words.

A very interesting method indeed - reminds me a little of the effect I battle with at the zoo between the bars and the animals when the AF can get a lock onto both (things like big cats that have an outer barrier to prevent you getting right up close to the bars).

Though once you see the method in use you can come to see how you might have seen it already without realising; its certainly something that I think I've seen in a few of the more arty adverts on TV.
