I get a PM about my "laughing smiley" and the comment wasn't even directed TOWARDS THE OP!

I was poking fun at the other undying thread where everyone is b*tching about the damned book being suggested all the time... when I actually think it's a *good* resource for *true* beginners.

That's all that was.

But YOU haven't be around in the forum long enough to get that.

I never said anything rude to you, so your PM was totally uncalled for.

And you can ignore my response PM because I came here just to find out myself what the hell you were talking about, to find out it was NOTHING.

You were talking about "Understanding Exposure" too, right? Just about everyone I've seen join these forums (myself included) has learned SOOO much from that book. Also glad to hear I wasn't the only one who got a random ticked off sounding PM about how much my pictures suck. I know they suck, that's why I'm not in buisiness =P

And yes, I was talking about Understanding Exposure, and someone even quoted me... specifically named the book and asked me if that's what I was referring to, and I said yes.

Someone needs to tell me where the f*** I was offensive to the OP prior to this and the last post I made, because unless I'm blind, I see nothing attacking the OP or being a smart ass towards the OP from my end...

There is a huge thread about that book and how it's recommended to all newbies. It's obviously recommended for a reason. It's a great book!

Your settings for every situation are based on your cameras light meter reading of the scene.

here's my attempt to keep up with the raging thread.
if you want to know iso, aperture, and shutter speed for every lighting situation, take some time (3 hours?) to read this. it is exactly what you want to know, and if you can remember all of it then you must be pretty amazing but if you can't check back often and most of it is learnt by experience anyway.
i don't see anything wrong or evil about 'the book'. it offers a lot of things that people starting off with DSLRs need to know.
as for the user manual, i mean, how are you gonna use your camera if you don't even take time to savour the wholly goodness of the user's manual??
one of the pet peeves of people on this forum is putting 'just got a DSLR' and 'gonna get in the bizzzz' together. some of the people on here are experienced professionals and they know how difficult it is to start a business.
this is a forum which means there are all kinds of characters on here and they are all trying to help you (in different ways). if you are easily offended by others then you really shouldn't be asking for help on here in the first place.
