While we're all being blunt here.....so WHY CAN't you learn your camera quickly and begin a business? I sure know a lot of people that have done it. TELL ME I CAN'T, I'LL SHOW YOU I CAN.......my motto...I call BS on that one ;)

Good luck.

"Can" and "should' are very, very different things.

Nobody said you can't do it.

If you take family portraits - the family will love them even if they are horrible because they have an emotional attachment. So yeah anybody can start a business. I guess its more along the lines of a persons ethics. If they feel comfortable taking peoples money for OK pictures then more power to them.

I'm here to learn people, not get into drama. Who was it then tha posted the laughing smiley about me reading the manual? Was that neccessary?? And the people who agreed with it......

Neccessary? Yes, because it is true...

I agree. Wheres my PM?

Don't get all uptight because people are giving you their honest opinion based on experience that you do not have yet.

I've said it before. Everyone has friends, some tell you like it is, others tell you what you want to hear. Choose wisely yound jedi....

So you have a business plan set in place?

I'll be blunt. How much do you plan to earn with your photograhy? Do you want to scrape by week to week? Or do you wish to make more in a month than many with degrees make in a year?

Who knows, maybe you can do it quickly and prove all nay-sayers wrong...

I'll root for ya.....

It's not just your camera you have to learn, there's composition, editing, color management and multiple other things. These things don't come over night, I'm still learning new things everyday and I've been at this three years. I'm sure you'll figure it out though once you get more into it :)

Jake, yes, I do have a business plan. Also, i am wanting to do this for part time income as we are already well off. Like I said, I spend a lot more time with my camera, have have learned so much on here from advice in just a day.

I never said your pictures were bad, I love your infant and baby one's, the colors are beautiful. I was simply saying that everyone's photo could be critiqued because everyone has a different perception and style.

I think you said the magic words  - I was thinking the same thing when I read the original post - and if I may be so bold - the OP should check out Bryan Peterson's book Understanding Exposure, 3rd Edition, Revised and Updated. (That is the one you were thinking of - was it not?) :sexywink:

Cheers,

If you actually read the posts maybe you'll get it this time.

"If you actually READ the posts maybe you'll get it this time." Exactly what I was talking about.........could have been worded differently, said I just joined the forum yesterday, getting the hang of this too. Also I didn't say Aayria pics were bad. How'd that get twisted? Was simply saying everyone's photos could be critiqued because everyone has a different perception and style. On that note, I do spend more time with my camera than on here, so time to shoot halloween pics of my kiddos. Trick or treating time.

Can you all slow down please. My work monitor took a crap and I have to rely on my droid to keep up.

You keep repeating that over and over... as if you're trying to take stabs at people... as if they DON'T...

If that's another defensive mechanism to make yourself feel better, so be it, but that's only going to gain you more "fans"... that you're going to have to throw on that ignore list of yours.

Hey look M'aw!
I found me one of thems there Trolls!
Yeah!
Hey you there Troll, C'mere!
Trolly Trolly Troll- Get on over 'ere!
:er:

Final warning to all - drop the silly snarky comments and posts and remain respectful to each other.

Oh someone can learn their camera quickly. It really helps if they have a technical background.
There's a lot more to doing photography than just the camera though.

To have a going photography business you also need good computer, math and other skills, like: arts training, business, marketing, promotion, sales, customer relations, accounting, basic business law, time management, image editing, etc.

It has long been known that about 85% of all new, small retail businesses fail, because the business owner lacked the business related skills needed to sustain the business.

Good luck with your venture!
