This was one stressful game!

#4: Wow.

BTW - there are at least 3 football photo threads going on right now. :)

'Tis that time of year! I have another football game today. Then soccer and swimming tomorrow, volleyball on Wednesday and back to Football on Saturday. It's my Christmas money!

Volleyball photography is awesome. I play in third division in the Norwegian League, so I'm a little biased :) Action shots in volleyball are yummy! A good pancake, a mailbox block or a three meter spike. <3

Volleyball is THE HARDEST SPORT EVER TO PHOTOGRAPH! It is the bane of my existence!

WOW. Nice.
I honestly can't decide if seeing these motivates me to keep working to improve, or makes me want to STOP trying to do sports photography. :D

I took pictures at a football game this weekend too--however, it was from the HH section of Neyland Stadium (with my 55-300 that I smuggled into the game, lol) so they are not exactly "up to my 'usual' standards." HAHAHAHA :lmao:
I'll probably put 'em on Flickr just for fun. I figured it was probably still good practice, following the action, trying to get the "action" shots, etc.

I've got my next soccer game tonight--I think the only thing I need to do now to get photos as good as yours is...get a better lens. And hire a better photographer. :D

Seriously, these are nice, and great inspiration to keep plugging away at it!
Your shots are doing awesome! You have to remember I have been at this a few years now. My first year? SUCKED. BIG. Really really BIG. You are doing far better than I did that year, trust me... It was scary!

And why are they all holding hands?

I asked my girlfriend the same thing. It's pretty cool to see these tough guys doing that. Heh..
It's their "brotherhood" thing. I am not sure I'd be up for it, but they are a pretty awesome team, this group! I have one other team that the coaches really instill the unity of the team in them and it's pretty cool to see how it REALLY works.

Not being a huge football fan, but having two son's who live and breath football, This  is one of the better aspects of the sport. A good coach will teach respect, brotherhood, kindness and love... both on and off the field.

Both my wife and i are always amazed at our son's attitude during football season. He's a good kid.. but there are defiantly more "i love you"s and opening doors for strangers during the fall.

Our head coach always says he's building men 1st and state champions 2nd. He makes all the boy's do community service each month to give back to the parents and town. Not only does it get rid of the 'entitlement' kids seem to have these days, but it also makes the community more involved with the team (and donations.. i'm not saying that doesn't hurt).

The coach also makes one of the players read the poem "Little Eyes Upon You" by Kimberly Sedlacek to the entire team at the start of each season.... We have about 800 youth players (8 - 14 year old's) who use the same mascot and uniform as the high school team. It's amazing to watch my youngest son (10) bring and enforce that attitude and sportsmanship he see's in his older brother to his pee-wee team.

There is a lot not to like about football (i have the hospital bills to prove it).... But behind the concussions and torn ACLs there can be some good stuff too :)
