Thoughts of Post Process attempt of IR Image?

So I have just finished an attempt at creating a IR image through post processing, I am in the habit of entering contest in an alternate online medium to challenge myself and try new things.

There may not be many folks who have an opinion on IR images but I would love any feedback or critique you may have for this first attempt.

*Not a processing technique that I feel I will use often, but a neat seemingly easy technique that could be useful in other compositions etc.

Which of the IR filters were you trying to emulate? Perhaps, if you would care to share your process, those of us who are active in IR photography might be able to provide you with some better feedback.

As far as I can determine, the closest you seem to have come is to the results that might be produced by a filter in the 590nm to 635nm range with a channel swap in Photoshop, although I have to wonder if the blue colour of the hull of the nearest boat would still look blue in true IR imagery.

These were all shot with a 590nm converted 5D III with various types of processing to arrive at either a black and white conversion or a false colour image. @WesternGuy - this is a very valid question.
I cannot honestly say which filter I was trying to emulate and this would explain why I feel so on the fence about it. The processing was done to enter into a fun challenge, no benefit to me other than a rank in the challenge.

I know so little about IR that I didnt do my proper homework to see what different effects different filters would have. I will dive into the realm of IR for education and I do intend to check your album out here shortly.

I highly doubt I will spend much time shooting IR BUT I do plan to educate myself as one can never have enough knowledge.

Thank you for the kind comments. If you think as "photography" as an "art form" as I do, then IR is simply another form of expression just like Black and White is a form of expression. I compare it a bit to painting where some folks use water colours and some use oils. Each to his or her own and whatever gives you the most pleasure in your work. I do a lot more IR imagery today than I did a few years ago and I am also experimenting with LAB colour as part of the "artistic" mix.
