You could have used a reflector to lighten the shadows on the left side of her face. I am taking part in the project myself and am up to #19.

I agree with the reflector. I think I might have used a lower F-stop to put more blur in the background if it could have possibly been done and still keep the subject in focus.

I have a 5-in-1 reflector that I bought on ebay for around $25. It fits right in my camera bag.

reflector? she could have just turned a bit, lol. you guys and your gear obsessions. spacing her away from the wall more would have made your dof have more impact too but its okay this way. personally i would have just punched up the iso a bit to light the photo.

If anything, a difusser would be more useful to soften the main light and to increase the lighting ratio.

DiskoJoe is right though. She needs more distance from the background.

Yeah, you don't always need a reflector. You just need to find a spot where the light is more even, I actually find light that is too even sometimes very boring! A hint of shadow can really add something extra in my mind.
