Thanks Mleek. As for the editing, I am working on it and I did notice those things. I didn't know if they were noticeable because I have been staring at them for a while.
The first one is not an accident as I have been intentionally trying to get the black background without actually using any background. I didn't take the time to actually pay attention to the facial shadows as I was too concentrated on turning the background black. A reflector below the girl would have worked wonders if I had thought about it. I realize she is not the best subject for this style, but I use what I have during the day just to practice different techniques. She is a ham for getting her picture taken.
The other two shots I was shooting for the white background. Since I am still waiting for my seamless to get here tomorrow, I jumped the gun with just using the tile board that I bought. I had set them on my floor when I got home and they assumed it was a dance floor for them to play on. So I took advantage of their playfulness. I realize to get the white background I need more space and a few other lights. I just didn't want to get all the extra stuff out and scare my kids off. So in turn I played around to get this effect in PS, which I failed at in certain aspects.
