Time Lapse

I'm planning on doing a time lapse video of a few sporting events, but I never really did any sports photos before. I use a Canon Rebel XSI, and I figure I'll set the aperture as high as it can go, and put the exposure on auto. I don't think this will produce good photos. Any advice? It would most likely be during the day when the sun is at 100%. Also I'd probably be doing it with the continuous shooting mode.

The only time lapse I attempted was a potted flower bud, thinking I could make a clip showing a speedy flowering of the bud.

Found that the lighting needed to be consistent, and I probably needed a manual exposure so everything blends right, kind of like you do for panoramas.

Post a link when you finish. I was disgusted with my feeble attempt and never did finish...
