Tips & Pointers ???

My advice is this... and I learned it the hard way:

DO NOT under any circumstances let your bride and groom get DRUNK before their main portraits!!! I won't go into details of what happened in a recent situation, but it's bad..very bad lol.

Also, don't be afraid to take charge. After the ceremony everybody "says" they want the formal shots of bride and groom with family etc...But there are always people trying to rush it or acting as though you're the most boring annoying person in the world, preventing them from having any kind of fun. Don't let it get to you....write down the shots you need, and keep things together. Get somebody in the family or bridal party to help you keep the people you need in one place when you need them..They will be an invaluable help for speeding things along.

Make sure you get the "obvious" pictures when you're thinking so hard about the creative pictures. I did a wedding for a friend once, and took some really creative pictures of her cake. But what I didn't realize, was I didn't actually get any of the WHOLE cake, just straight on. She was a bit dissapointed not to have a full cake in any shots >< So..it was a case of an "obvious" picture to her that I totally overlooked in the moment. Make sure she writes down for you what those "obvious" shots she's thinking of are..so you don't hear from her weeks after the wedding "well..didn't you take a picture of this or that???"

And most of all, have fun! =)

Their back up location for the ceremony is horrid. Its an old school. And by old I mean one room school with chalk boards still on the walls. Of course it also serves as storage for pianos because everyone knows there is more fun with two. If its piss pooring raining we only have a studio set up which I can provide and the room where I can set that up in is thank goodness very very large and long. But the place where they are holding the ceremony is awful. The reception site is in a shop. Well they call it the hall but its a tin shop with open beams and no windows. Its just lovely. I think this is the universes way to tell me never agree to do a friend a favor again. Especially when thats a wedding. No restrictions on flash at all since this is really really really low key small country wedding. Fracking mother nature decided to be a ***** is all. Oh I lied it does have windows but they have taped garbage bags over them.

I usually keep a flask of tequila tuck inside my camera bag and breath strips on the outside........... just in case.

Well todays the big day. Woke up and am very surprised its not raining yet. Weather man still says rain for today but the percentage has dropped so thats good. Hopefully all goes without a hitch. Thanks again for all the tips guys.
