They are the same for the most part. Canon uses the EF and EF-S mounting system (there is probably more but I'm not all that sure) so you will most likely be able to share lenses between them. It will say what types the dSLR takes so you can purchase your 35mm based around that. Most of the dSLRs have a smaller sensor than the size of 35mm film so you get a crop factor. Most Canons have a 1.6x ratio so using a 50mm lens would actually be like using an 80mm.

I was going to start making bumper stickers with some of those sayings on them...like: I'm sorry to inconvenience you by driving safely. :D

Oohhh..I just realized you're in the DC area. I don't miss that traffic on 495 at all. Hardly compares to our NH traffic. And we don't have aggressive driver imaging here either. :D
