Spring migration has begun. Got this Painted Bunting just after his overnight trans-gulf trip.

Plan a trip to Galveston vicinity any mid-April. Tons of colored feathers. Buntings, Tanagers, Orioles to name a few. When a cold front with north winds comes across the coastline the trans-gulf migrants literally fall out of the sky.

Great images. I think that they are probably the most colourful bird that we get here in North America, at least that I have seen.
