Well I'm back :) Its been a crazy few months!!

This is little 2 1/2 year old was in constant motion! I've really worked on using manual mode more, and avoiding my flash. These were all in Manual with Shutter priority to catch her playing.

4. I know some people won't like the lens flare, and will say its OOF, but I did the OOF on purpose - I wanted a kind of dreamy look to go with her costume and the fairy wand. I personally think the lens flare (totally accidental!) just adds to that.

Re the last "dreamy" photo, the OOF thing wouldn't have been an issue if you had of gotten something else in the picture in focus like some long grass, branches or something. Also you said that they were shot in Manual but they were all shot in Shutter priority. Ditch the pop up flash.

Cute kid! The last "dreamy" shot doesn't work for me--it looks like an accident rather than intentional, with nothing being in focus. Keep shooting! :)

I didn't use flash in any of these pictures - It was all natural light. I used shutter so that I could catch her and not have a lot of motion blur (something I've had major problems with).

I didn't figure most people would like the last shot, but Mom LOVED it so thats what counts right? Its not going to be a go to shot for me though. It worked for this family, but not everyone's cup of tea.

No comments about the other pictures?

Your flash was used in ALL of the shots! I can see it in your exif data. Flash fired, compulsory flash mode, return light detected.

Where are you able to view the exif data? I know I used my flash in a couple shots that day, but I didn't think I used it that much and definitely didn't think I used any of them. Hmmmmm idk. Maybe I'm remembering wrong. exif data wouldn't lie lol. I really was trying not to use flash that day though, especially since it was so bright. :/

Google exif viewer :)

If it's bright out you actually want to use your flash more for fill light so that the shadows aren't as harsh, just not your pop up flash, it gives off really unflattering light.

You are not shooting in Manual if you are using shutter priority.... just saying.

You are using shutter priority.

What time of day was this?

when you use flash, your shutter speed can NOT go above 200 sec. (or about it depends on your cameras sync) So that is why you also have such LARGE F-stops. F25??? wow! For kids I like to use a high shutter but shoot about F4 so I get some fall off of the background.

and do you have your ISO at 800? why?

Number one has potential but the background is pretty distracting. If you had used a larger aperature for that DoF might have been nice. You can tell the flash when you look at the pictures. Don't even need to look at exif. See the small pin hole white dot center of her pupils. Whether its pop up flash or flash mounted on camera fired straight at its a dead give away. Be careful with backlighting though that her face doesn't get completely underexposed. Flash on a sunny day isn't necessarily a bad thing when your using it for fill. But you can achieve better results with a reflector than the pop up flash I think.

LOL... the next OOF shot I get I will just label as "dreamy" and be done with it.
