CC NEEDED! This is my first time trying this style of editing and I want to know if I'm headed in the right direction! THIS is the previous thread I posted with old toddler photography if you'd like to compare.

How can I fix that? I didn't enhance them separately (I actually UNenhanced her eyes a bit because they were even brighter). To be fair though, my daughter has extremely intense eyes. They're gorgeous and I don't want to unedit to the point where they don't look like her eyes but I don't want them to look fake either. If that makes sense? :P

If thats how they look then leave it. I like 'enhance' eye look. I always touch my eyes up.

Some like it, some don't.

Find what works for you :)

I like it

I like it, too. And I think you're heading in the right direction. It may be just a little on the cool side? But if you're in Montana that may be her natural skin tone. :)

she's cute of course

the picture is overprocessed...look her shirt also

*sigh* Unfortunately that is a natural MT skin tone. Poor girl has inherited my basically translucent skin :P

What is overproceessed? Is it the coloring or smoothing or sharpening or all of the above? I like to know specifics for future edits so I don't keep making the same mistakes!

Thanks for the comments / help everyone!!!

SHe's a total cutie! This pic is a marked step toward simplicity and one theme-one photo, compared against the scattershot nature of the May post. it does look very striking, very startling. But you know, it's better than the May stuff you had!

all of the above :)

This picture looks like it was taken with a wide-angle lens from relatively close, so her face looks very large compared to the width of her shoulders. (note the distinct diference in tone between her face and her shoulders.)
It looks over-saturated to me because of the virtually electric color of her shirt and background.
It is in Adobe RGB color space which might look good on some browsers but not all; sRGB is the best color space for general web viewing.

First, the WB is off; look at the sclera: They're blue not white, so the WB is definitely too cool. Correcting that will definitely have an impact on the eyes and make them considerably more 'real' looking. Additionally, get down lower so that she's looking at you, NOT up to you. Lastly, try for more neutral/even backgrounds.

I've actually never heard of sRGB and didn't know that it could be an issue.

Ha it's her stroller int he BG. It's a practice shot, of course and I'll remember to let her out before snapping pictures next time.

Aside from angle/BG which I know is an issue now, how does this new edit look?

Very sweet picture.
I think you should not touch the eyes beacuse she has that natural beautiful eyes.
good luck!

Could we see the sooc version?

I don't mind the background fabric...it's colorful and little kid-like in its nature...pastel, bright, patterned, and the strong pattern design has two nice diagonals in it which sort of aim toward the eyes. Her eyes though, really do look odd. I'm not sure what you meant when you said this was the first time you had tried processing "like this". I assumed there was some type of work performed that made the eyes a bit more emphatic than they normally would be, but perhaps not. The photo *is* very eye-catching, very striking. I find it a very engaging landscape-oriented close-up portrait. Not necessarily a warm and fuzzy feeling type shot, but nonetheless a very strong, engaging photo that just grabs my attention, mostly due to the eye contact.
