Took a stab at B&W C&C please.

I seen that you had 20 views and no comments so i thou i'd give you one i say it because it does like that. I like the waves how they're nice and smooth, nice work show some more. Oh and don't worry if you don't get a lot of C&C .

It's a pleasing image, though nothing really grabs my attention and makes me want to look. The horizon could be straightened a tad.

It's a decent shot, but as Brenda said, there's nothing grabbing my attention. Perhaps if there some definition of the clouds? I do however, like the waves. Just enough smoothness for my taste.

image is very nice and soft ... i've always been told not to center the horizon ... either take in more of the ground or the sky (whichever has more details, show that more).

Could do with a bit more contrast in my opinion - the sea needs a bit more separation from the sky. Where was this shot, by the way? It reminds me of Bermuda...

Horizon is tilted, shadows are crushed, looks underexposed to me, and I have no idea what the long tube is. :)

My biggest question here is, what is the subject? If it is the water or the sky I would recommend using landscape orientation (and, as has been mentioned, moving the horizon up or down in the frame to accentuate the water or sky respectively). If the subject is the pipe I'm fine with the portrait orientation, and I like how you bring the pipe in from the corner of the frame. The far end of it is too centered horizontally though - if it is the subject of the shot and you want it to dominate the image, bring it all the way from the bottom right corner to, say, the left third of the shot.

I do like the shutter speed selection - I like the contrast between the smoothing of the waves (not overly done) and the detail of the pitting on the pipe.

I thought it would be a good place to practice with water. This is actually the shot I trying to get, with the water flowing over the pipe.

When I got home and reviewed the shots it became painfully obvious that I should have shot them in landscape. Portrait seemed like a good idea at the time....

I'm not thrilled with the composition of the B&W shot.No matter how I cropped it, I didn't like it. I mainly chose that one to try B&W because of the contrast in the water. All the others, like the one above were too smooth.

There were no clouds that evening, just a nasty, hazy sunset. I took these on one of the beaches in Ventura, Ca.

sky is just empty space that is taking away from the photo. there seems to be a lack of contrast as well. maybe open up the shutter for a tad longer or change it in post processing.

Honestly, I like the 2nd shot a lot better. I love a good B&W shot, but from my personal experience, sometimes, you just can't make it happen.
